You shouldn't stop pointing things out because they don't get changed. You should actually do the opposite. If you feel strongly about something let it be known. If other people agree with your ideas, encourage them to speak up.
Your pointed out that gas grenades shouldn't cause damage under water, because the player isn't breathing and this seems to defy physics. In a game where you take rockets to the face and live, I don't think that's a strong enough argument by itself, especially when addressing a feature that has been around for a long time. In addition, one could even argue that the grenade has a special sensor that detects water and is able to release harmful radiation much like the radiation traps, instead of an airborne toxin. I have no personal preference on this issue, and if the consensus is to get rid of gas underwater, that works for me. I don't think the change will make much of a difference and if your only goal is not to defy laws of physics, there are many ways to rationalize this particular effect.
