Something happens on the server every once in a while and all weapon noises completely cease. Since there are usually about 10 to 14 players on the server, it is difficult to tell what triggered the event.

The sound sometimes quickly comes back, other times it takes longer. I may be in error, but one time it seemed like the sound didn't come back on until the next map.

Mindz knows about it. It probably isn't on Singed. It's not that important but Slot likes to be aware of peculiarities like this and if someone doesn't tell him, he'd never know about it. It's happened at least twice in the last few days.

In fact, Mindz acted like he was familiar with the bug when it first occurred for me. Maybe I am wrong.

I've witnessed this bug several times. usually it's on a smaller map like the dm maps.

The server stops sending new updates when there are too many updates to send to a client (aka packet overflow). This will occur more often on small maps, like e1m7, because everyone is grouped together hooking, being gibbed, dropping backpacks, setting traps, etc. In this situtation, the lag command should be helpful as it will skip all of the carnage and hook links to allow the process of other updates.

That'd be what happened them. Tornados, zombies, radiation, grenade spamming, the nail gun ... the level was DM1.

HRM... I play DM4 and E1M7 a lot and have never run into this bug. Does this tend to happen when there are +10 players or so?

When an update is skipped, it will print "packet overflow" to the server console. It wasn't as noticable as it is now since I added specific level voting. I've seen the server with 14+ players vote for e1m7. Talk about mass carnage!!!

I love that level with 10+ people. Us less skilled players can get lots of frags.
