I WANT TO MAKE THIS QUICK ANNOUNCMENT!
IF YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED, STOP YELLING AT ME! LIN SET UP THE SERVER FOR ME. THATS MEANS HE IS IN CONTROL, NOT ME. I DO NOT HAVE THE POWER TO BAN PEOPLE. NOW STOP FUCKIN YELLING AT ME ABOUT BANNING PEOPLE! I MEAN, EVERYTIME I GO TO SHMACK, I GET YELLED AT! YOU PEOPLE ARE RUDE AND ARENT THINKING. IM A NICE 12 YEAR OLD. WHY THE FUCK WOULD I WANT TO BAN PEOPLE FROM MY SERVER? I WANT TO RUN A SUCCESSFUL SERVER. MAYBE SOMEDAY BE AS POPULAR AS SHMACK. SERIOUSLY, IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, THERE'S NO REASON WHATSOEVER WHY I WOULD BAN PEOPLE!

You were 12 years old 1.5 years ago.... Don't you age?

What control do you actually have on the server? Someone who says they own a server has to take responsibility for the server. Perhaps Lin should give you admin access, etc.

You'd want the admin access to SSH into the linux server and make any changes needed. This is a good step for you on learning to be a server administrator.

It appears you are set to market and admin the server, but it is difficult to RUN a server if you don't have access to the ban file or control who is able to play on "YOUR" server.

Consider the wisdom of allowing a server to bear your name under such circumstances.

Good luck with it.

admin access to the server or quakeserver? There's a huge difference. You can only do so much with the menu system (which by the way doesn't work) than what you can do if you can add/edit/remove files in the actual quake directories.

PS - what distro of Linux is the server using?
