I want to somehow put all my of digital camera pictures on a CD-ROM (or DVD) and display them on my TV's DVD player. Supposedly, a large retail store DOES this for digital camera pictures so they can be viewed on a DVD player. They charge $6.99 for 40 pics. But, I bought a digital camera so I did not have to pay for film development!!!!! So, I'm certainly not going to pay the store to do this, especially if I believe there is software on the 'net that does this for free. Does anyone know where I can find software that will write JPGs to CD or DVD in a way that my TV's DVD player can display them? |

Found some, just tried this one!!! http://tvcd.biz/try.htm Free trial, will only write 10 pics using trial version. Just tried, on my DVD player it displays a promotional screen with their name and then proceeds to flip thru the 10 pictures I put on the CD. It displays each pic (I supposed you could press pause) for about 10 secs. Not 100% happy with ability to move to next pic pressing Fast Forward/Reverse or the Skip forward/reverse. But at least I know it is possible because I just did, and it was simple!! This particular one is a 4.6 MB download and is easy to use as hell. Like I said, not 100% happy with ability to flip thru pics when CD is in DVD player, but it is adequate. It is $24 to buy, $0 to download and try it. |

Other apps supposedly having this ability: 1) Ulead DVD Picture (probably $100 bucks ... screw that) 2) Roxio Easy CD Creator Platinum ($99 bucks ... uh, no) 3) NERO 5.5 ($59 to buy) http://www.nero.com/ Hmmm, Nero 6.0 is a fully functioning free-download: http://www.nero.com/en/631934351031098.html I may eventually try out Nero's fully functioning free-trial and see if does it better than TVCd.biz's product. I probably will continue to look for a free-ware alternative. . . . . [although reading the product description, Nero looks like a mighty product. It appears to do some bad-ass shit like DVD-video and auto-backup ... might be worth it plus some. But I still dislike the concept that I must pay $$$ to put pics on CD to view in the DVD player, after all, many of the newest DVD player can view JPGs as a built-in feature, like this DVD player This DVD Player does JPG's off a CD-Rom as a built-in feature ![]() http://www.nextgenelectronics.com/apexad2500.shtml ] |

Nero is da bomb Awesome --- just absolutely awesome --- for the CD you make to play in the DVD player, you can design a menu, pick a background wallpaper, make title text and include not only JPGs, but pretty much anything including AVI movies (which my digital camera does --- and it isn't anything fancy --- just a $99 digital camera I purchased on a whim). The download link: http://www.nero.com/en/631934351031098.html It's a full functional 30 day trial ... $59 to buy and is definitely a very powerful tool. |

I'd recommend trying TVCD (http://tvcd.biz/try.htm) first. Nero has a lot of features, but I ended up getting agitated with a couple of things when I tried to do some more ambitious things. The TVCD program is simply and easy. Nero has a "wizard" but things started getting complicated when I did certain things, and the Nero home page states that it has a conflict with certain CD burners and has problems when certain other CD writing apps are present (namely DirectCD/Roxio CD Creator). |
