hi, i think JoeQuake is the best but i feel its missing a few things for me, bear with me.. i skimmed thru the board here and have seen people ask for things like a Map Menu and to have all menu settings (for particle engine, gamma etc...) saved in the config.cfg and i wouldn't mind an in game menu setting for each gl_part_* to further tweak my viewing pleasure but most of all it would be nice if the saves and configs where in the “id1” dir because most Quake Engines (that i have tried) can read and write the same saves just fine... maybe make a console variable for an autoexec file like "home_dir_id1" or something because i hate copying my saves around, though i can use “-game id1” but then the Demo Menu still works but says Help/Order again also Quake done Quick movies don’t work with the -game peram.. i have to unpak and watch each demo one by one.. im sorry I don’t know why it doesn’t work anyway sorry to bother you but JoeQuake is my favorite and I know you can make it even better.. thanks |

particle submenu: great idea, gonna think about it. QdQ movie DOES work, just pls type "exec quake.rc" at start. thx. Making a common config for all engines IS NOT possible. Well at least it would be possible for only the basic cvars not for the ones that come with JoeQuake. Why? Becoz other engines would DELETE the JQ variables from your config file. That's simply the way they work. Every time you finish the game, a NEW config.cfg is to be written with your actual game settings. And of course in case you start Quake with another engine, it WILL NOT save your JQ variables since it doesn't know them. That's why I asked you to make an own config file (name it whatever except config.cfg) and exec it whenever you start JQ. Or make a cusomized autoexec.cfg and place it in /joequake folder. |

wow thanks for reading my post and replying so fast! i'll try that for qdq and i do have a customized autoexec.cfg its just i dont use many other engines really but im a freak and like to tweak my settings often per game.. some levels are darker/lighter with more/less monsters and so i change my settings a bit i like most/all of the QMB settings though sometimes there is too much going on and i want to turn off the rocket trails and stuff.. so its hard to just set it in the autoexec and forget it... becos then I save my game and go eat dinner come back load my game and have to reset my gamma and rocket trails, blood and so on plus i download a lot of stuff and there are lots of dame pop ups that mess up my games (like the pop up and the game are fighting for control of my screen) and I have to save and quite and restart JoeQuake and all my settings for that level are gone.. it’s a fact of life all Quake engines wipe the config clean of all unknown settings but all other Quake engines still save their own settings in the config so there always there as long as that’s the only engine you use anyway I’ve typed far too much.. thanks for thinking about my ideas and for the best Quake engine that NEVER crashes on me like ALL others do dodada90 |
